VAT-FREE REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE FOR VISITING YACHTS
Douglas Yacht Services offers a simplified and highly efficient VAT-Free Repair and Maintenance procedure for visiting yachts. Developed in partnership with French Customs, this system allows foreign-flagged vessels to carry out all professional repairs and maintenance in Martinique without VAT on both parts and labour. This procedure has been in successful operation since 2016 and represents a major financial advantage for captains, engineers, and yacht managers.
How the Procedure Works
The VAT-Free system is based on the European Inward Processing Relief (Perfectionnement Actif) mechanism. DYS has negotiated a streamlined local adaptation that:
• Requires no manufacturer’s warranty
• Can be activated quickly and efficiently
• Applies to all foreign visiting yachts under Temporary Admission
Once activated, all related invoices for technical services, spare parts, and professional labour are processed VAT-free.
What Is Covered
The VAT-Free Repair and Maintenance procedure applies to:
• Mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic work
• Rigging, composite, and structural repairs
• Refrigeration and air-conditioning services
• Painting, carpentry, joinery, and onboard upgrades
• Any professional labour performed on the yacht
• All parts, materials, and equipment imported or sourced locally for the job
